December 20th was the last time I performed on stage for the good people of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.  63 days is a long time.  Rust tends to set in after awhile.  I was going to some open mics in Minneapolis but time & weather were a major factor once again.  The only sure thing I have on the schedule now is an open mic at the Rick Bronson House of Comedy in the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN.  I did an open mic there over the summer but wasn’t pleased with my performance (I’m usually never pleased when I’m out of my comfort zone of being in front of Rez crowds).  Other than that, I’ve been waiting on some emails & phone calls for potentially HUGE shows for me.  Hopefully one of those will come thru and get me to the next level comedy-wise.

Right this second, I’m at home sick with strep throat and waiting for my pizza to finish cooking while watching Fast Five because I can’t find the remote and am too lazy to get up to turn the channel manually, waiting for my next big challenge to show its face.

Day One

So today is the day I attempt to get in shape so I don’t almost die walking up a flight of stairs while doing laundry.  At this weight, it’s not comfortable but it’s a lot of fun eating like I’m on death row!  The tools I have for this war include an eliptical and a BowFlex that’s been used as a closet for the past few years.  Besides my health, I may have something big coming up comedy-wise and don’t want to look like a fool & be winded right out of the gate.  And my wife recently told me that she misses my once-solid arms.  So there’s that also.  So off to Rule #18: always limber up.  Wish me luck!

What’s Next

So many ideas running thru my big head lately.  Lots of writing, lots of videos to shoot, not enough time in the day… the story of my life.  I’ve been getting a lot of networking established because I really do want to take my comedy career to the next level and I’m hoping within the next few days to hear some Earth-shaking (for me anyway) news & confirmation.  Looking to hit the ACME Comedy Club open mic on the 18th to get some stage time.  Coming up next is a quick video shoot for an idea I came up with yesterday and then get the Untitled Red Lake Internet Talk Show up & running again.  Also have some video skits I want to shoot with the 94 WARRIORS bros once we can all get together for once and hopefully get the next BAttle River DVD rolling this spring.  My equipment is in need of a serious upgrade soon to top it off.  With my campaign for Red Lake Nation tribal chairman now suspended indefinitely, I’ll have more free time to be awesome (or as awesome as my lameness can get). So watch out for all of that!
